2. How We Use Cookies

PwGenie uses cookies to:

  • Remember your preferences (such as dark/light mode)
  • Measure aggregated, anonymous traffic so we can improve the site
  • Display advertising — in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, ad cookies are set only after you accept

Password generation happens entirely in your browser. We do not store, transmit, or log any password you generate.

3. Types of Cookies We Use

3.1 Essential

Required for the site to function. These cannot be disabled because the site would not work properly without them.

  • Theme preference — stores your light/dark choice (localStorage, persistent)

3.2 Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to collect aggregated, non-personally-identifiable information about how the site is used: pages visited, approximate location, device/browser type, traffic sources. We use this only to understand and improve the site.

3.3 Advertising

We display ads through Google AdSense to fund the free service. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, measure their performance, and limit how often you see the same ad. Depending on your consent, ads may be personalized (based on your interests) or non-personalized.

  • If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, advertising cookies are set only after you consent via Google's consent message (see section 4).
  • If you do not consent, no advertising cookies are set for personalization and Google serves only non-personalized ads (or no ads).

4. Consent Message (EEA, UK, Switzerland)

Visitors located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland see a consent message from Google — a certified Consent Management Platform — on their first visit. It lets you:

  • Consent — advertising and analytics cookies are enabled and personalized ads may be shown.
  • Do not consent / Manage options — no advertising cookies are set for personalization; Google may serve only non-personalized ads, and analytics stays in a cookieless mode.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the privacy / consent options link provided by Google's message. Outside these regions no message is shown by default and analytics and advertising are enabled; you can still manage cookies via your browser and Google Ad Settings.

  • Browser settings — every modern browser lets you view, delete, or block cookies for specific sites.
  • Consent choice — in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, reopen Google's consent message via its privacy / consent options link to change or withdraw consent.

  • Analytics opt-out — Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6. Third Parties

The third-party services we use are listed in section 3 (Google Analytics 4 and Google AdSense). These Google services may collect information about your activity across other sites where their technologies are deployed. We may update this policy from time to time. We will reflect changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes affecting how we use cookies will prompt the consent message again so you can review your choices.
